Sawyer Laminated Wood Oars
Crafted from specially selected straight grain Douglas fir, Sawyer Laminated Wood Oars are the
Northwest originals. Douglas fir, a wood known for it’s high strength to weight ratio and for
it’s resistance to deflection or bending, makes a beautiful, light, stiff and stable oar.
Coveted and cherished by Northwestern rafters and driftboaters for twenty years, these oars
have been tested and proven on whitewater rivers worldwide.
Sawyer Laminated Oars feature full length tapered shafts for a balance and feel available only in
wood. Sawyers slight crown blades offer superb control while Northern White Ash edges and
epoxy-metal tip splines* add durability. Our finish is a sealer soak plus two thick coats of the
finest marine grade spar varnish. Sawyer Laminated Wood Oars all come equipped with foam grips
for assured handling.
Sawyer Laminated Wood Oars come in three models:
From 8’ to 12’; The original Sawyer whitewater oar. Fine edge for quiet entry, slight crown
blade face for anti-flutter and tapered shaft for proper balance and flex.
Sawyer Original Whitewater (S/P)

From 8’ to 12’; Our most popular dory/drift boat oar. The thin, tapered, slight crown blade
provides the light blade weight preferred by the Northwest’s professional Drift Boat Guides.
Sawyer Lights (S/P Lights)

From 5 1/2’ to 8’; Light oars for prams, tenders and fishing catamarans. The economy solution
modeled after the Sawyer S/P Whitewater, this oar has a slight crown blade face, but no epoxy
metal mesh tip spline.
